Daisuke Kawai

Head Sommelier, Grand CruCritic

Daisuke Kawai was born in Japan and began his career at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, before moving to Singapore in 2010 to become Head Sommelier at the Michelin three-starred Les Amis. He has been named Best Sommelier of the Year three times at the Singapore World Gourmet Series Awards (2013, 2017, 2019) and inducted into its Hall of Fame for Best Sommelier. In 2015 he founded the luxury wine bar La Terre.

Today, Daisuke is the Head Sommelier of Grand Cru Wine Concierge and works as an independent wine consultant, educator, and a wine judge.
